Ushicon 9

Ushicon 9

So Jam and I both attended Ushicon 9 this weekend. It was a small con for the 18+ crowd in the heart of Texas at Round Rock.
Though traffic was slow, it was still nice to see familiar faces from the con circuit and also to meet new people. We were able to do commissions for a few people which was great. The relaxed atmosphere really helped in that aspect.

Jam was able to participate in the Iron Artist panel for the first time ever alongside artist Travis McDaniel. Jam ended up drawing Street Fighter ponies. So, though it may not have been the most lucrative con we’ve been to, it certainly had it’s share of memories!

Updates and Hetalia Day 2013

Soo unfortunately we didn’t get a table for San Japan this year and didn’t end up going. It was pretty depressing, but we’re making up for it by attempting to go to Ushicon in February!

We also wanted to let people know about the Hetalia Day event for 2013! The date is Saturday, October 26, 2013. We already have an event page for the San Antonio Hetalia Day meeting. Please join us! Celebrate your love for Hetalia! We’ll have food, fun, games and prizes!

Anime Odyssey!

So this past weekend we went to the first ever Anime Odyssey anime convention! Even though it was literally pouring rain and San Antonio flooded in a few spots, the con went pretty well for a first year con!

It was fun to see familiar faces and meet new friends too. The staff at the con were pretty helpful and as I heard it most of the panels went alright. I think any snags that happened along the way are pretty forgivable seeing as it was a first year for this con.

Friday was fairly slow for everyone since it was a school day and it was pouring rain. By Saturday things picked up tremendously! Sunday was pretty active up until around 3PM, when things kind of died down in activity and a few tables in the AA/Dealers started packing up their things.

It was over all very enjoyable and I can say that it was a bit ambitious to start off with a 3-day con! But it seems to have worked. Hopefully this con will be around next year too!

Mizuumicon 6

We’ve been going to Mizuumi-con for about six years. Well, I have been to Zero Day Anime… so I guess that counts as a seventh year? Heheh. Well, either way, I have to say that this was probably one of the best Mizuumi-cons I have been to.

Not only did we do well as far as sales, it was great to meet new people and just seeing so many familiar faces and talking to people. The positive vibes were out there. There were lots of nice comments and just generally nice people!

We had a few new items, so we should be adding more things to our storeenvy soon!

One of my favorite moments was seeing a Catbug cosplayer and running out to give her one of our Catbug pins. She was really glad! I hope everyone else who went had a great time. I know I did. And I hope this sets the tone for any other cons we attend this year.
