Mini-Mini Con 2017!

Mini-Mini Con 2017!

So on May 6th, 2017 Jam and I were at Mini-Mini Con!!  We have been to Mini-mini at least two years, so this was the third year attending and tabling.

Mini-mini is unique in that it is promoted by both NineTails and San Japan so because both advertise it and it has guests, vendors, artists and events, it really is a small con squeezed into a mall.  One of the nice things about this con is the free admission for everyone.  It’s very enticing for anyone who is free that day to come down to the mall and enjoy being a geek.

Jamie and I managed to turn out a few new items.  Some new buttons, a print of Rocket Raccoon and Baby Groot as well as some Mystery Boxes.  We also happened to put some of my old resin jewelry creations on clearance.  I put out some earrings and rings for a dollar and they sold fairly well.  I intend to sell the remaining amount in our upcoming conventions until we are sold out.

We did sell out of a few items at this convention.  We ran out of the pink macaron cat coin purses.  We also sold out of our Eevee Evolutions print, but we’ll be sure to have more of that one at our next event.

Our next event will be Kawaii Invasion!!  This event will take place of two days in the same mall.  That is, June 3rd and 4th.  We hope it will be a fun time and look forward to possibly introducing more items to our table.

San Japan 2016!

San Japan 2016!

San Japan is the largest anime convention in San Antonio and we have attended a good number of them.  We love coming and seeing other attendees, artists, panels, etc.  It’s our home con and we have enjoyed it and are always grateful and happy to see familiar faces as well as new ones.

This year San Japan shifted from being at the start of August to being at the start of September.  It is now on Labor Day weekend.  This past weekend was also a bit rainy and it was reflected in attendance, but not too badly.  2015 saw 18,411 attendees while 2016 had 16,346 (a 2,065 difference).  In addition to this, Artist Alley was juried this year and we were excited to have gotten in!  There were about 142 artists attending, too.

At this con we brought a number of new items, including buttons relating to Voltron and Sailor Moon as well as all the current Eevee evolutions.  We had some “Nyacaron” Macaron kitty themed coin purses in blue and pink, as well as cat-themed sleeping masks.

The year is winding down, in terms of cons, but Jam and I will still host the local Hetalia Day on October 22nd.

We are also going to go to this new-ish event called An Anime Christmas on December 3rd.  That’s pretty much it for this year’s line-up of events.  Though we do look forward to next year!

Otaku Fair (run by Otaku Fellowship Society) should make it debut in 2017 and we’re excited about that, too!

Mini-Mini Con 2016

Mini-Mini Con 2016

This past Saturday we attended Mini-Mini Con at the Wonderland of the Americas! We did really well and it was great seeing everyone who stopped by our booth! It looked like everyone was enjoying the little convention. It’s great to see a free event like that do so well and expand further within the mall. We hope that it does even better in the future!

For this convention we had some mystery boxes for sale with various little goodies inside! Each box contained 1 mini print, 2 buttons, 1 shrink charm, and 2 laminated keychains! They sold out within the first two hours we were there, which was very exciting! We’ll probably do more of them at our next con!

Also new to our stock for this con were three holographic Pokemon starter bookmarks, and a set of Osomatsu-san buttons. We were excited to debut these as well!

We received a couple commissions at this convention too. Overall it was really nice for a little one-day con. Thank you to everyone who stopped at our table! We hope to see everyone again at San Japan too!

Mizuumi-con 2016!

Mizuumi-con 2016!

We went to Mizuumi-con 2016 this past weekend. We had a fantastic time and saw a lot of familiar faces. I (Sam) have been going to OLLU’s cons since Zero Day Anime back in 2007. Seeing Mizuumicon now spread to two days was interesting. Saturday was quite busy and there was a lot of energy to the con. We gave away some freebie macaron cat stickers and handed out fliers to anyone wishing to attend Hetalia Day in October. By the end of the day we were out of stickers.

We managed also to sell our new prints from Splatoon and Pokemon, so that was very encouraging! Sunday was, as expected, a bit slower. We got a total of 12 commissions over the weekend, so that was quite fun to do. We also happened to have our table across from voice actor Chuck Huber. We’ve seen him a number of times at other conventions (mostly Realmscon) and have had him sign pictures for us. So this time, we gifted him with a drawing of Austria from Hetalia. He was pretty pleased with it.

We’re quite excited to see where Mizuumi-con will go from here. We plan to try to attend the new con if/when it appears.
