I’ve made it through one day of Jafax! Sadly we weren’t able to finish Lunchbox in time for it, but we’re working hard to finish it for San Japan in August. I’m really excited!
Jafax has been nice. I know the person in charge of Artist Alley and she’s always good making sure we get what we need for our tables. This year Artist Alley has moved to a new building and has twice as many artists! There are so many wonderful and talented artists this year, it’s amazing! We got a number of people coming through too, which I was worried about since we’re away from the main building, but the series rooms were by us too.
I always love being at Jafax. There are a lot of interesting people who come through. My favorites are those who have never been to an anime con before. They always marvel at everything there is to do, and Jafax is so small and laid-back. Really, it’s a great con to start at if you’ve never been to one before. Plus it’s free!
I’ve gotten a few commissions so far and I’ve sold some prints and little Phoenix Wright magnet cards that I drew and Sammich colored. Last year prints didn’t sell very well at all, but this year has been better. It makes me want to draw more in time for San Japan. Our book comes first though. It’s great to hear what sorts of things everyone likes though! I think this is the year I’ve absorbed the most. It’s hard the first couple years when you aren’t entirely sure how to present yourself, but it’s exciting to have a table and share artwork and talk to people. I’m really looking forward to San Japan now, though I’m nervous since it will be the first BIG con I’ve had a table at.
I’ve got one more day for Jafax, and I’m a little nervous, since my friend Bunny can’t be there so we can watch each others’ tables, but I know the Artist Alley Coordinator will make sure I can get a break if I need it. It’ll be fun! Then it’ll be back to working on Lunchbox and preparing for San Japan in August. There’s always so much to do!
